  Just about the best news to come down the old news feeder pipeline of late is the news that a "pygmy" has been brought into our sorely troubled world. Yes indeedy. A quite rare pygmy hippopotamus is born unto us and pygmy hippo mom is absolutely thrilled. We should assume that is the case. You know, happy hippo mom? Anyway at the "Metro Richmond Zoo" the staff is simply ecstatic with joy and a baby 'pygmy hippo'. The baby is about a cute little bundle of pygmy hippo fun AND cute.   Once upon a time in America, the MacNeil/Lehrer Newshour was the  go to program for accurate news and world reporting that reported actual unbiased news. News that was relevant, germane, and easy to watch. Time passed and Robert MacNeil retired from the news desk with Jim Lehrer pulling the load and then Mr. Lehrer was joined by Gwen Ifill who manned the news reporting like a world champion. Which Ms. Ifill was in actual fact. Then as more time passed, Mr. Lehrer was seen less and less and then Mr. Lehrer retired and the MacNeil/Lehrer Newhour became the PBS Newshour with Ms. Gwen Ifill and Judy Woodruff at the desk. Then a much popular journalist Ray Suarez became MIA as did Hari Sreenavasan. There were any number of excellent journalists working the Newshour over the years.   America can now and officially refer to Texas Governor Greg Abbott as the twenty first century Grinch incarnate for Christmas. I use the religious formatting of the Christmas as a poke at our wheel-chaired feckless wonder of a Texas governor, Greg 'pack them dang migrants on buses and sends 'em up north a ways to America's Vice Presidential residence in Babylon-On-The-Potomac' Abbott. Long winded I concede.   The BBC announced yesterday that Santa Claus is dead and buried in Ireland. I read the article and came to the conclusion that the Irish are merely raining on the Xmas dreams of children everywhere. Good old St. Nick is, according to the BBC, dead and buried in an abandoned churchyard in Jerpoint Park which is 20 kilometers south of Kilkenny, Ireland and is now mostly abandoned. Except of course for a couple that farm the Jerpoint Park on 120 acres of Irish farmland. Dang, Santa is dead and buried in Ireland?!? I'm gonna have to call bullshit on this news and the BBC and the Irish that happen to live around Jerpoint Park are going to have to put up some accurate and for reals...FACTS!   Yes my friends, today is the official 'winter solstice' and today will be the shortest day, allowing for sunlight, of year 2022. It is a given that the notion of our year being 2022 is mostly a common acquiescence. Other cultures have very different notions of what year it may in fact be. Whatever. Just about all cultures can agree that winter's solstice is on or about December 21, 2022. For this year anyway. Winter's solstice for 2022 will be at exactly 1:47 p.m. and that's in Pacific Standard Time. I happen to live in the Pacific Time Zone so...that's what I use for all time keeping issues. That and keeping track of solstices and equinoxes. After all, we have a vernal equinox, a summer solstice, an autumnal equinox, and our happening today winter solstice at the already given time.   The 'officious' Jan. 6 House Investigative Committee has FINALLY sent articles for prosecution to the Justice Department. It's now up to America's Attorney General to do his due diligence and prosecute the treasonous scum name of trump. Trump and his miserable minions should be sent to trial in a timely manner.
