Time For Recriminations

Image
The state of Virginia held a gubernatorial election on Tuesday last and a Republican't won. Oh my gawd...how could such a thing happen. Such a thing happened on account of the Republican't guy chalked up more votes than the Democrat incumbent. OH MY GAWD...! The Republican't guy didn't win by much so the election can't be an indicator of what might happen 2022. First off, America will actually need to get to 2022 and you can get even money odds in Vegas as to whether 2022 will actually show up. Maybe it will maybe it won't. Everyone will just have to wait and see. That really drives political pundits crazy. So the Republican't guy won because Democrats are out of touch with reality. The reality on the ground. National Democrats are clueless. Democrats where I live are nonexistent. That's because Utah is a Republican't state and has been for years. Sure there are some Democrats in Utah but Democrats in Utah are for the most part moderate Republican...

Rain On The Cop26 Parade

Image
What COP26 really means is "the United Nations Conference of the Parties." Gosh and I did not know that and had to google the acronym to find out what the hell. So 'COP26' really has nothing to do with effecting change that will ameliorate the damage already done to our planet by our world's nations. Wow is that a surprise or what. The COP26 was for the most part a non event and more of a photo op for political leaders to descend on Glasgow, Scotland to preen and pose then blather on and on about what might be done years down the road. That "road" by the way will be under water by the time any nations get around to actually doing more than piss up rope thinking that'll solve the climate problems. Actual and real work to alleviate climate problems plaguing our world SHOULD have been enacted about 50 years ago...at least. Probably more years ago than 50. Weather forecasters and I'm referring to the cutesy weather girls that currently forecast weath...

Well Color Me Stupid

Image
I figured if I was going to write about Dia de los Muertos, I'd be safe going with what I've known low these so many years. Known and practiced as if I were Mexican. Well was I wrong or what. I was wrong. Dang if'n I don't just hate it when that happens. Today, and today would be Tuesday November 2, 2021, is Dia de los Muertos. Allow me to clarify some matters that I hadn't bothered to clarify for years. The 'days of the dead' are as follows - Halloween and that would be October 31, is All Hallows Eve. November the 1st is Dia de los Innocentes or 'day of the innocents' and November the 2nd is Dia de los Muertos. Ergo...'days of the dead'. Color me stupid and damn lazy. I figured it safe to simply follow along with the little I've known about the holiday and just call it good. Well ignorance and especially willful ignorance is damning to say the least. Had I bothered to get the facts and nothing but the facts Ma'am, well, I wouldn...

Dia de los Muertos

Image
That's right, today is officially Dia de los Muertos and for all you white people that translates to day of the dead. Or All Saints Day for you all white Catholic peoples. However and the really larger implication of today would be the beginning of the countdown to the turning back the clocks. One hour. Come this weekend and you'll want to turn your clocks back to standard time. That hour lost back in the springtime will be returned to you without any accrued interest. No penalties but no interest. Having lost interest in the whole farce of regular time as opposed to daylight savings time, it is that time of year...again. Turn the clocks forward, turn the clocks back and dang if'n this isn't about one significant bullshit. Set the clocks once and it really doesn't matter IF you gain an hour or lose an hour so what. Set the damn clocks and leave them alone. Makes no difference to the clocks. Makes no difference to the sun or moon or stars or birds or fish ...

This Is It!

Happy Halloween everyone. We made it to the big day. CANDY! Go out there and gets you lots and loads of candy. Enough candy to make every last dentist across these amber waves of sugar smile and longingly. Lovingly? Of course and you know, tomorrow will mark the beginning of Thanksmas. Thanksmas is that new and especially legislated holiday that covers all the shopping days from the day after Halloween through New Years Day. America's retailers pressured Congress into legislating this new and improved holiday where everyone can spend money at the retailers and make the retailers ever so happy. Curious that this new holiday would commence on Dia de los Muertos. Yes, quite curious. If Americans were to spend money like the retailers want Americans to spend, well, Americans would be dead broke and headed to the poor house. The 'poor house' for this incarnation means homeless and living out of a refrigerator box in one of those civil engineered if not genius designed homeless...

Oh So Close

Image
Halloween is tomorrow. Halloween is so close you can almost taste it. CANDY! Thanks to Craig Ferguson. You know, because Ferguson used to throw candy to his studio audience at the close of his monologue. I do miss Ferguson. Ferguson was easily the funniest man on late night television. I miss Geoff as well. So tomorrow is Halloween and if you were paying any attention to this week's news, well, you've already witnessed how scary things can get. Pretty dang insane too. So hold on to your butts, keep your arms and legs inside the ride at all times, then bring on the trick-or-treaters. Tomorrow of course. Tomorrow is Halloween. Redundant to the bitter end. Machine art is next up. she -  puppet - you know... puppets are pretty dang creepy. CANDY! 😖

Now It's Time For Freaky Friday

Image
Today is 'Freaky Friday' on account of it's the Friday before Halloween. So here and deep behind the Zion Curtain, there's a seriously raging debate on whether the kiddies should trick-or-treat on Saturday night or Sunday night. Halloween falls on a Sunday this year and through no fault of the Gregorian calendar makers, it is what it is. You see here in the land of Zion, the mormons aren't supposed to do more than about squat on a Sunday. Well except golf is okay and fishing is okay and hunting is okay and washing the car is okay and just about anything other than mormon worship is okay. If a holiday should fall on a Sunday, the mormons have their "virtues" tested mightily. Such as... should the 4th of July fall on a Sunday, the mormons hold 4th of July celebrations on the Saturday before the 4th. Halloween falls on a Sunday for this year and so mormons are torn over whether to send their costumed little mormons out on Saturday or Sunday. Trick-or-treate...
