Thar She Blows

Biscuit Basin Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming ... a famous Yellowstone thermal pool blew its top water Tuesday morning around 10-ish a.m. July 23, 2024 and all this happened at the Black Diamond Pool. Oh yes and the time indicator would be Mountain Daylight Time. I've been there and the area is swarming with thermal pools, vents, geysers, and the occasional bison along with a rare bear sighting or so. Anyway, the Black Diamond Pool went smooth off and sent tourists scrambling to get out of the way of thermal hot water and really really hot pool debris. The National Park Service closed Biscuit Basin until further notice. Understandable no doubt. So the "eruption" looked amazingly like this -

The Park Service reported there were no injuries which is dang lucky given the proximity of tourists to Black Diamond Pool. The Basin walkway edges close to the Pool and the Pool is quite a sight and is by its very appearance, alive. Proof positive. Now for Wednesday machined artware and someone please cue the camel.

a curious item that went unreported concerning the Black Diamond Pool ... the Pool has just about no record of going explosive in recent times. proof positive that when in Yellowstone, any visitor is on volcanic ground and should keep that in mind at all times. along with the wildlife, bisons and bears and the occasional cougar, the Park can be dangerous to living beings. oh yes and I shouldn't forget bull elk that during their rut, can be psychotic and damnable grumpy. 😎
