What happens when a star dies? A question posted as headline on the BBC webpage. So here to answer that pressing question is... ready for it? Me! Yup and just like that I'll chime in here with an answer that at least is almost plausible. When a star dies, that star kicks the old cosmic bucket. Chokes it's very last solar breath. Wheezes at its pending demise and then...and then...the darn star goes nova. Yup. Explodes in one titanic if not cosmic explosion. Hurling mega-hot solar plasma all over the dang place and in general, fucking up an entire star system for keepers. That's what happens when a star dies. There is no need for a funeral. There is no need for funeral expenses. There is no need for a casket. There is no need for a headstone. No need for a cremation urn. No need for not so much whatsoever. And that my friends is what happens when a star dies. It is all part and parcel of the universal dynamic. The ebb and flow of the universal ocean. As you may know, we are planted right smack dab in the middle of universal nowhere. There is no up. There is no down. There is no right or left. There is, as far as human existence is concerned, only us. After all, we know very little about our universe, galaxies, star systems, Star Trek, Star Wars, guardians of the galaxy. Which galaxy needs guardians? Ours? Not very likely. Planet Earth is in dire need of guardians, but that hardly matters much in the old cosmic scheme of all things knowable. For as Donald Rumsfeld once stated to an eagerly pandering press room, "we don't know what we don't know." Good old Rummy said that with a straight face. The media circus that gathers at the Department of Defense ate every last Rumsfeld word. So when the utterly sacred BBC posts up a headline that reads, 'What happens when a star dies", you can bet your lunch money they're making shit up as they work ever so hard to make that 17:00 deadline. Now for our sacrosanct Monday machine art. After all, art is whatever you can get away with. Oh yes and...Happy Labor Day! Go ahead and take the day off. If needed, I'll write you a note.
