Way back in time, a long way back in time, after I'd been released from state ordered warehousing and incarceration ... I was able to get a job at a teaching hospital. Felons and ex-felons are lucky if they're able to get a job of any kind. So I was hired by this teaching hospital and entry level positions is where I had to start. I was happy as could be that I had landed a job and being gainfully employed was part of the state's insistence that be employed as I still had fines and restitution to pay off. I couldn't be completely released by the state UNTIL I'd made good on those terms of release. I had to pen my name to all those conditions. So being in on the lowest possible level of hospital employment, I was able to learn a great deal about hospitals, doctors, nurses, hospital administrators, benefactors, and all the unnamed little people that are instrumental in the smooth operation of 'hospital'. A fairly large number of people are required to allow a hospital to run efficiently. So being under the watchful eye of state probation and parole officers I walked a very fine line of obediently following guidelines, read orders, and kept my head down and my mouth shut. Makes for a much better experience when working off fines, restitution, and orders from one very touchy judge that was known for sending first time offenders directly to prison. I mean directly from his courtroom. I've seen grown big and strong manly men breakdown and cry like babies after being sentenced to prison by my judge. Why the judge sentenced me and ordered my terms of probation and parole the way he did will forever be an ingrained mystery that I've learned over time to just leave it be. So with a hospital of considerable size like the one I was able to get a job with, well, it's almost like a city of it's very own and the workings, the inner workings, are quite the stuff of legend. There is one tale I'll share on this here fine day of freedom and it goes something like this ... hospitals are home to sick, very sick men, women, children, and that is not just patients. Hospital staffing is pretty much the same as any city would be and so there's a variety of people from small to large, fabulously famous and infamous, hard working people, and then people that work a hospital to feed one sick and depraved psychological disorder or another and that is not out of the ordinary. Case in point ... hospitals require a team of dedicated people that handle the unfortunate case where a patient expires and that "body" is neatly prepared for transport to the hospital morgue and every hospital has just about the identical modality. The hospital I worked required one employee that worked the morgue cart along with a unit nurse to accompany the deceased being delivered to the hospital morgue. An ideal operation when it's working properly. So this morgue attendant was doing a morgue run along with a nurse assigned and the morgue delivery was going along as required except the nurse was called away for some reason or another and this left the deceased alone with the morgue attendant and that's when the tale turns rather dark. With the nurse gone and the attendant alone with the deceased that just so happened to have been a once rather attractive and somewhat busty woman and morgue attendant commences to initiate intercourse with the dead woman. Oh this tale is true. Anyway and before the morgue attendant could achieve 'release' the nurse returned and was horrified to find dude slapping uglies with the deceased woman. Hospital security was called, morgue attendant was arrested and never heard from again. The dead woman's family was NEVER informed of the rape the dead woman had experienced. That would have been some very very bad press. Major teaching hospitals frown on incidents requiring upper level administrators having to answers questions from media and having to explain why a hospital employee was doing the jiggy with a dead woman. The gossip over that little faux pas went on for years. Now for some Sunday machine art.
