Goodnight Dave & Thank You

One of our world's incredibly talented rock masters has kicked off this mortal coil and that would be Dave Mason. Mr Mason was several years older than myself but I followed his music from back in the late sixties. Mason was Traffic although Steve Winwood would disagree. Mason DID write a fair number of Traffic hits and that takes away nothing from Winwood. Clash of artist egos and I've seen that before any number of times. Probably my favorite Mason work was 'Alone Together' and I still listen to the album in it's entirety. Mr Mason worked with the giants of the music industry way back when and Mason's pedigree is nothing to sneeze at. Jimi Hendrix, Clapton, Mick Fleetwood's band, Delaney and Bonnie, the list goes on and there are plenty of accolades to spread over a lifetime of fine rock tunes and sonatas of various appeal and experimentation. Dang fine artist no doubt. Mr Mason lived in my Nevada and I did not know that. Doesn't matter I would have left Mason alone to be "together." So our world loses another fine musician and another light is extinguished. Sad to think that the excessively ugly are here to provide us all with egregious torment. I'm adding my very favorite Mason tune that I discovered probably back in 1971. One of the finest rock ballads ever. Have a listen -

Rest in peace Mr Mason ... I'll miss your presence. Now for sad and deep Thursday machine art.
