There was a minor news bite on the CBSNews page about Iceland. Actually, the news bite was about earthquakes rattling Iceland. To the tune of 20,000 earthquakes counted at the release of the CBSNews bite. That's a dang whole lot of earthquakes. Over a period of about, more or less, one week's time. Hold on to your Icelandic butts everyone, the ride is gonna get bumpy. Shakey? Something geologic is going on? Yeah that'd be my guess and considering that I'm a mere amateur geologist, well, there you go. You see Iceland sits astride the mid-Atlantic ridge and the mid-Atlantic ridge is separating. Separating as in one slice of Iceland is heading east towards Europe and the other slice of Iceland is heading west towards Greenland. Cause you know in a westerly direction is Greenland. At some point in geologic time, Iceland will become two Icelands. East Iceland and West Iceland. Or...maybe there won't be any Iceland at all. Present day Iceland could be eaten by the mid-Atlantic ridge and that's what's called geologic tough luck for you scenario. Swallowed by the crack. Say...that's a David and David tune from back in the day. You can Youtube the tune if you've an interest in such musical interludes. Pretty dang snappy tune I would add. I liked David and David and they turned out some damn decent music back then and there wasn't at the time very much music worth bothering with. Which brings up the subject of Iceland again. Won't be much Iceland left to bother with IF the mid-Atlantic ridge has it's way. We'll just have to wait and see how things shake out. Get it? Shake out? That's geologic humor. Not very good geologic humor and I'll concede that. I'm not a professional comedian and never have been. I am however a fairly decent wiseass and I'm happy with that. Now it's on to machine art. Some surrealistic heady stuff for today I must say.
