so a lady in 'Somewhere, Amerika' is going to have a baby. sometime in November. no big deal right? wrong. the lady having this baby is giving birth to her granddaughter. what? yup and according to the article on the CBSNews page, the lady is carrying her daughter's baby as a loving favor to her daughter that can't have babies on her own. the daughter not having the baby has had medical issues that prohibit her from carrying and giving birth to a baby so the daughter's mother stepped in and volunteered to have the baby for her daughter. damn, all this mother/daughter interchanging gets a mite confusing. it is however giant leaps in the field of in vitro fertilization. which has been around for a long time but doesn't get a lot of mention in the mainstream media on account of pro-life and/or pro-abortion issues and the in general heated dialog that goes along with issues such as these. I'm not a woman so, I can't figure out what the big deal might be. anyway, it seems like a very kind thing to do. kind on the mother's part and trusting on the daughter's part as mom gives birth to her granddaughter and the granddaughter will be the natural daughter of the mother giving birth BUT the daughter gets the baby on account of...oh crap, you figure out all the connections as this one gets a little complicated. i'm sure there are a pile of legal issues that have to be sorted out in the before any of this gets started. you know, the in vitro stuff. so after the baby grows up a bit and starts asking questions about origins and stuff that kids tend to ask questions about, well, does the baby ask her mom about grandma that is her biological mom and what the hell is up with that. and if grandma is really the baby's natural mom well, where does the baby's not natural mom fit in to a rather convoluted scenario? I don't know and I don't have any answers for the kid which is probably a good thing cause anything I might contribute to their situation would NOT help in any case. there is a picture along with the birthing article that shows the happy family all standing together with the pregnant mom, the non-pregnant daughter/mom and her husband and husband is holding a homemade poster that reads "made with love and a little bit of science." that's all fine and picturesque but I think the sign should have read "made with a lot of science and a little bit of love." well and a collection jar, petri dish, lab technicians, and some snakey photos so the "dad" can get his rocks off. yes that last remark is rude. so what. the article has lots of cutesy photos of mom and daughter/mom and yes it's all so "loving" and what happens after the divorce? the divorce is inevitable. this is amerika after all and stuff like this ends badly about 75% of the time. that's NOT my fault but, it is a rather cold reminder of how shit works in this here land of the free to choose misery over company. yes, cynicism reigns supreme on this fine monday. :] speaking of cynicism, it's the final two weeks to the election 2020 and damn that can't get here fast enough. all the political ads on tv are more annoying that I can remember. annoying, bald-faced lies, bullshit, political bullshit, rude bullshit, some bullshit that should get people prosecuted, ads pleading for money, ads pleading for support which is ridiculous bullshit, and if there were a "loving and caring god" in our universe, the bullshit would have been terminated about two months back. so much for theological relevance. on to the machine art and stuff.
standing rock -
a neighborhood Halloween dragon (it's for the kids, ironic no?) -
that's all for now and so...fair thee all well.
