Summertime And The Living Is...

Image
Hot! Hot hot hot...! Summertime is here. There's not much anyone can do about that. Tomorrow will be the official meteorological start of summer. Officially that day is known as the summer solstice. You see, when the Planet Earth's axis tilts so that our sun's photonic bombardment is at full blast, that is 'summer solstice'. Additionally, our Planet Earth begins to reverse tilt its orbital fixation and we head toward the autumnal equinox. Astronomically, the Earth's orbit is measured in quarters. So one quarter starts at the vernal equinox and that would be the beginning of spring. Next up would be the summer solstice and that's where we're at right about now. THEN, we slide to the autumnal equinox and that would be autumn. Go figure. Then it's a slippery slope that winds up at the winter solstice and that is just about Christmas time. Merry christmas everyone. That ought to be about enough meteorological blah blah blah. Now for Tuesday machine art...

It's Here...Finally

Today is Juneteenth. Wah-Hoo! Black people are free so, good on them. Vegas managed to hold the Stanley Cup Final Winners Parade and did so with no runs no drips and no mass shootings. The same can't be said for the rest of America which managed to tick off about 50 different shootings BUT this is probably the good part, only three people dead. So today is Juneteenth but there will not be any mail delivered, no banks open, and government will be closed. That would be good news. Now for Monday Juneteenth machine art and the holiday marathon is finito. trickster - aubrey - asianism - racey - interned - modern - so no more holidays for about two maybe three weeks. then comes the long hot stretch to get to Labor Day. can't hardly wait for that. 😏 happy birthday Christopher. 53 years went by in a blink.☺

Juneteenth Marathon Continues

Image
As this festive holiday weekend winds on and on, down in Vegas, the town is throwing out a red carpet and holding a champions parade for this year's winners of Lord Stanley's Cup. Yup, Vegas is now home to hockey mania in performance casino style. The parade commences at 7:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time and of course, the parade is for Saturday night. Seeing as how this post posts on Sunday morning, well, the parade is now history. Mass shootings and mob mayhem will be sufficiently reported on all freaking day long (so far all is calm). Now for Sunday marathon machine art. geor - concrete lobotomy - ms. kahlo - oz - cotton balls slim - vestal maidens - the bird-like image back up there a bit is an Aussie image for some dang thing or another. I'm not sure what it might be an image for but...I don't really care. the image is kind of cool. 😏

Juneteenth? Well Doesn't It Suck To Be...

Image
So Monday, June 19th is "Juneteenth." Now an official federal holiday and the actual Juneteenth happened June 19, 1865, when a Union General informed black slaves in Texas that the Civil War was over AND all slaves were now free. Dang if'n it don't about suck to be the last to know. White Texans weren't about to inform black people about their freedom. As a footnote to history, the Jim Crow era began in Texas. Now for a Saturday machine art festival. Yee-haw!!! the unknown lives of migrants - tripping (if 'god' hadn't intended folk to trip, well, 'god' wouldn't have invented psychedelics) - smoke - noir - fusion - mass - juneteenth...go figure. 😏

Friday...Yippee!

Image
Well, it's all over. Basketball playoffs, Hockey's Stanley Cup, the Oakland Athletics will be moving to Las Vegas AND the A's will get a brand new stadium paid for with taxpayer dollars. Back in the day, baseball was played on a baseball diamond inside a ballpark. Not anymore. The plans for the A's soon home to be is quite spectacular. This is to be expected AS taxpayers are footing the tab. After all professional sports of any persuasion is big business and big business in America has the undying support of the American government. Congressional members of both political parties can smell a buck to be found at 100 yards. Aggrandizing to a fault. The big word is a test to see if a reader can still use a dictionary. Merriam-Webster would be the dictionary recommended. I can say that as Merriam-Webster is the dictionary I use. Now for our Friday installment of machine art. silhouette - clown car - our ladies of the serrano - a soft parade - with basketball over and done...

When Planets Align

Image
In a talk given yesterday on Neil DeGrasse Tyson's 'Star Talk' program, Dr.Tyson explains what happens when the planets align. Yup. According to Dr. Tyson,... "When the moon is in the Seventh House And Jupiter aligns with Mars Then peace will guide the planets And love will steer the stars This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius" Gosh, who knew? Evidently, the explanation has been staring us all square in the face for years. I think some of the essential aspects of all this are sorely lacking but, we can probably trust Dr. Tyson to get this all correctly. It does seem that "trust" is mostly missing in our postmodern early twenty-first-century world. Now for Thursday machine art. scream - galactic golf - beach - pipe with butterfly - lynch - a reader is encouraged to interpret the images posted in any way a reader might care to interpret. that is called "artistic license." so there you go... 😏

Black Hole Whiskers

Image
Did you know that the black hole that centers itself in our Milky Way Galaxy has whiskers? Well, it most certainly does. I did not know that. According to an article in 'The Astrophysical Journal Letters', recent radio astronomy from a study done in South Africa indicates that the black hole in the center of the Milky Way has whiskers. Go figure. I'm not sure what exactly we lesser brainiac types are supposed to make of the Milky Way black hole having whiskers. That information must somehow be relevant...to something or other. I think. Now for a segway to Wednesday machine art. However, no whiskers are involved with Wednesday postings. bomb - walking - quixote - georgia - winter - "now is the winter of our discontent"...toss in several other Shakespearean gripes and that pretty much sums up life in the first quarter of the twenty-first century. 😒
