My very favorite artist of all time and that would be Vincent van Gogh, is justified in his portrayal of sky, clouds, and lofty sights. By none other than the World Meteorological Organization and their "official" World Cloud Atlas. Who knew ... Anyway and according to the WMO, a newly named 'asperitus' cloud formation has been spotted, photographed, and here is that very photag -
The image was taken by meteorologist Kristan Lund and Lund works for the National Weather Service. Lund was driving into work, caught the clouds, and got the shot of a lifetime. According to WMO, this cloud formation is extremely rare and therefore Lund has made claim to rarity and photographed that rarity for all time. Good on you Kristan Lund. Damn cool photo I should add. As the photo was compared to a Van Gogh painting by Lund, the NWS, and the WMO well that is some heady stuff right there. Damn cool photo no doubt. So and with that slice of some rarely seen good news, we'll segue over to Saturday machine art and offer kudos to Vincent van Gogh who is still delivering joy and wonder to our wildly barbaric and cynical world.
