We've made it to one of North America's greatest holiday celebrations ... Groundhog Day. Yep. February 2, 2026 and every February 2 is celebrated as Groundhog Day and I could not tell you why that is so ... we'd better check out the google thingy for some hints as to what and/or why ... hang tight for about a moment or so I'll be back ... found more than is probably necessary but I'm gonna fill up space for the simple reason ... I can so ... here goes - the breakdown on the dealies -
Ancient Roots (candlemas/imbolc) originates from a time when people used animal behavior to predict the onset of spring and specifically the midpoint between winter solstice and the spring equinox. All of this here is some manner of Germanic folklore and doesn't that just figure. (how the midpoint between winter solstice and spring equinox was determined is not mentioned)
German immigrants settled in Pennsylvania in the way back 1700's and that was when there was NO ICE SS Gestapo Death's Head Hunter Killer Units. The nazi forerunners brought the folk tradition with them from Germany (Groundhog Day and not ICE SS Gestapo) and doesn't that just figure. So should a groundhog see its shadow well that's gonna mean some shit and should a groundhog see no shadow well that's gonna mean some other shit there you go. Bottomline would be in 1886 a newspaper published in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania decided that a local groundhog would be "official forecaster" and a legend is born. This was all a tourism ploy to gank unwitting tourists of their money and that's the bottom line because Stone Cold says so!!!
So from the 'ancient roots' blah blah blah to the Stone Cold says so bit is on Google and I just paraphrased some if not most of what I'd found after doing the google search.
